How HWVibes is funded

HWVibes is free to read, with no paywall. Research, writing, expert review and hosting cost money, so we use or may use display advertising, mainly Google AdSense, and occasional affiliate links. Google AdSense is not active on the site at the time of this update; this policy sets out the rules that apply when it is.

We do not sell supplements, cures, detoxes or test kits. Affiliate links are explained in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Ads are separate from editorial content

• Ads are placed in clearly separate areas and labelled as advertising (for example “Advertisement” or “Sponsored” in the ad unit).
• Advertisers have no say in which topics we cover, what our articles say, or which articles are medically reviewed.
• Our medical reviewer, Dr. Hena A. Ansari, has no financial interest in ads, and medical review is never sponsored. See our Medical Review Policy.
• We do not run native ads designed to look like our articles, and we do not publish advertorials disguised as editorial content.
• We do not place ads in a way that mimics medical warnings, safety alerts, “Listen to this article” controls, tool buttons, download buttons or site navigation.
• We do not change or remove content because an advertiser asks.

How ads are chosen

Ad networks select ads automatically, based on factors such as the page you are reading, your approximate location and, where you have allowed it, your interests. We do not choose individual ads, and we may not see an ad before you do.

An ad appearing on HWVibes is not an endorsement or recommendation of the advertiser, product or service. We do not verify advertisers’ claims. Please treat any health claim in an ad with caution, and consult your own doctor or a qualified professional before buying or using any medicine, supplement, diet product, device or treatment you see advertised.

Health-specific ad standards

Because HWVibes covers health topics, we hold ads to a higher standard. Where the controls in our ad network allow, we block, or ask the network to block, categories that are inappropriate for a health-education site, including:

• Prescription medicines and online pharmacies.
• Unapproved or unproven supplements, and “miracle cure”, “detox” or “cleanse” claims.
• Weight-loss products or programmes that promise specific or rapid results.
• Ads that claim to diagnose, treat or cure disease, or that discourage proper medical care.
• Gambling and betting.
• Adult or sexually suggestive content.
• Get-rich-quick schemes and misleading financial offers.

Blocking tools are not perfect. If an unsuitable ad gets through, we will act when we learn about it.

Sponsored content

HWVibes has not published sponsored content so far. If we ever do:

• It will be labelled unmistakably as sponsored at the top of the page, with the sponsor named.
• It will never be written in the style of medical advice or make treatment claims.
• The sponsor will not be able to pay for, influence or bypass medical review, and our medical reviewer will never be paid by sponsors.
• We will not publish it if it conflicts with our Editorial Policy or safety standards.

Report an inappropriate ad

If you see an ad that seems misleading, unsafe or out of place on a health site, please tell us through our contact form or at contact@hwvibes.com. It helps if you include:

• The address (URL) of the HWVibes page where you saw the ad.
• A screenshot, or a short description of the ad and the advertiser’s name.
• Roughly when you saw it.

We will review every report and block the advertiser or category where our tools allow. Please do not include personal health information in your report.

Ads, cookies and your privacy

When ads are active, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to HWVibes and other websites. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a consent message before personalised ads are shown. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info/choices. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Everything on HWVibes, including anything you see in an ad, is for general information only and is not medical advice. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for advertisers’ products, services, claims or websites, or for any outcome if you act on them.
